Hey, eco-friends! Today, we’re going to talk about the permaculture principle of “Observe and Interact”. This principle is all about taking the time to observe the natural systems around us and finding ways to interact with them in a positive and sustainable way.
Press pause, take a breath and observe.. Notice the thoughts that go through your mind and simply observe them without attachment. Walk from your mind down into your heart, tune into your emotions, observe how you feel. Now heart-based, it’s time to interact authentically.
In permaculture, we recognise that nature is our greatest teacher. By observing the way that plants, animals, and ecosystems interact with each other, we can learn valuable lessons about how to create sustainable systems that benefit both ourselves and the environment.
The first step in this process is to take the time to observe. This means spending time in nature, watching the way that plants grow, observing the behaviour of animals, and taking note of the patterns and rhythms of the natural world. By observing these natural systems, we can begin to understand how they work and how we can work with them in a positive way.
Once we have observed these systems, we can begin to interact with them in a sustainable way. This might mean planting plants that support local pollinators, using natural pest control methods instead of harmful chemicals, or building structures that work with the natural landscape instead of against it.
By observing and interacting with natural systems, we can create sustainable and regenerative systems that benefit both ourselves and the environment. So, if you’re interested in permaculture, be sure to start by taking the time to observe the natural systems around you. You never know what valuable lessons you might learn!
